This past Sunday, I threw a surprise party for my mom’s 50th birthday. The location was outside on the lake which was the perfect backdrop! Since it was outside, I kept the decor on the simpler side and added personalized touches. Rather than the typical black and gold theme for milestone parties, I kept it bright and fun using shades of pink.
I made this adorable photo frame and had several props set up so guests could take photos. To create the frame, I started with a white foam board from Michaels and used an exacto to cut out the middle (I left 2 inches to decorate). I purchased the rose gold metallic stickers and crepe paper flowers from my local Paper Source. The tropical print I used on the sides are actually cocktail napkins!
With the party being outside and on the water, I knew having a ton of balloons wouldn’t be the best idea due to the wind. A jumbo rose gold 5 & 0 were a must! I created a small balloon bouquet using rose gold, coral, blush, hot pink, and pink with gold pineapple balloons. Beautiful hot pink roses were displayed on the center of the cake/gift table. I made my mom a special photo book from Shutterfly and also displayed it on the table so guests could enjoy it, too! My mom is a beer drinker and I knew I wanted to have a special koozie made for her.

It was so fun planning this little surprise party and it was a special day! If you are ever stuck on how to keep a party simple, yet still festive I hope this gives you some inspiration!
