Happy summer! One of my favorite things about summer (and year round) is going to the beach. If you live near a beach or have an upcoming beach vacation, I have tips for you to plan a simple beach picnic!

It’s going to be hot (especially in Florida) so I recommend keeping the food light and simple. Try to avoid dairy for a day time picnic due to the high temperatures .. no soggy sandwiches or slimy cheese over here!
Food ideas:
– Wraps or sandwiches (use hummus instead of mayo)
– Fruit such as berries, watermelon, grapes
– Veggies and dip
– Crackers
– Salad

To display your food, bring mini serving trays or cutting boards. You can also use the container they come in to keep it even simpler.
I also like to bring a glass container with lemon water. It is so refreshing on a hot day. Other ideas are iced tea, lemonade or some bubbly.

I suggest bringing reuse-able plates (like melamine, light to carry) and glasses (mason jars) to reduce the amount of trash. Glass containers with lids are great for transporting food. Plus, it makes for an easy cleanup. Just throw everything in your bag and into the dishwasher once you get home!
Choose a picnic basket or beach bag (that’s what I used) that is large enough to hold everything. It will make it so much easier to set up only making one trip.

I used a throw blanket to lay on the sand. This is one thing you don’t want to forget, no one wants sandy food! You can also bring a few throw pillows, too.

I consider the blanket and food decor itself. To add another touch, pick up a bouquet of flowers and you are all set! Happy picnic-ing!
